Porcelain Crown

Once your tooth is numb, our dentist needs to reduce the shape of the natural tooth first to make room for the porcelain crown. This means reducing some amount of enamel from the natural tooth from all sides of the tooth.

We will then take an impression of the tooth. An accurate impression will ensure the dental laboratory can fabricate a custom-fit dental crown. The new crown will need to fit over the treated tooth and line up properly with the opposing tooth. We will also record how your teeth come together to ensure proper function of the new crown. Once the appointment is complete, we will send the impressions, bite registrations and custom instructions to the dental lab for fabrication

Once our dental lab receives the impressions of your tooth and additional information particular to your case, It will generally take three weeks to before the crown is sent back to our office. Three weeks later, you will return for your crown seat appointment. Our dentist will check the permanent crown to ensure its correct color and shape.
